This pump station was built to ensure effective and efficient distribution of water from WA's Southern Seawater Desalination Plant at Binningup to the Perth metropolitan water storages. It included separate pumping systems for the Tamworth and Dandalup regions. GO completed the detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical works which included 3 x 3400kW and 3 x 1600kW Pump Sets and associated high pressure pipework, valves, cooling water and electrical systems. The Water Corporation subsequently decided to expand the capacity of the pump station to cater for increased flows from the desalination plant and directly engaged GO to undertake the upgrade work. This involved the replacement of pumps, pipe manifolds, valves, motors, transformers and VSDs for four of the existing pump sets. All work was safely completed within the designated shutdown periods.
