This contract formed part of the Sunraysia Modernisation Project, which received funding from the Federal Government through the Water for the Future program. GO was contracted to design and construct the upgrade to the main irrigation pump station at Merbein while maintaining water supply during construction. A building refurbishment included concrete and steel work repairs, painting, air conditioning and insulation repairs. GO removed and replaced access platforms, ladders, stairs and handrails to provide safe and convenient access for operation and maintenance, with significant modifications also made to existing plinths. New pumps, motors and variable speed drives were installed, a temperature controlled office complete with ClearSCADA workstation, new pipework, valving and instrumentation, motor control and power supply switchboards and other electrical work.
