The company is directed by an experienced board with expertise in business management, engineering, construction, business development and commercial law. All of the directors take an active interest in the day to day activities of the business.
Michael was a founding Director, managing Director and Chairman of Built Environs Pty Ltd over a period of 26 years and currently sits on a range of company boards. Michael brings considerable experience from the property and construction sector across a number of States. His ability to strategically plan and direct strong business growth is well founded.
Tony is the Managing Director and takes an active involvement in all aspects of the business. He has managed water engineering companies since 1996 following 17 years in heavy engineering and manufacturing. Tony’s focus is on business development and financial management and he has successfully negotiated and delivered numerous significant water projects throughout Australia, including many relationship style contracts. Tony is also a director of Principal Finance Pty Ltd and Pristine Oyster Farm Pty Ltd.
Iain is an Executive Director and manages the construction activities of the company. He is an experienced project manager and project director, having worked in the water industry since 1997 and managed significant projects such as the Glenelg to Adelaide Parklands Reuse Scheme, the Southern Urban Reuse Scheme and the Bolivar Main Pump Station. Iain’s previous experience is in oil & gas, product development and manufacturing.
Steve is a Non-Executive Director of GO and a lawyer. He previously practiced law for 27 years as a senior partner of Adelaide firm Lynch Meyer. Steve is also a director of Commercial Motor Vehicles Pty Ltd and Principal Finance Pty Ltd.
Guidera O'Connor employs 100 qualified personnel who all work solely on Water Projects. We maintain extremely low levels of staff turnover which allows us to retain a large base of knowledge and experience for the benefit of our clients.
The staff pool includes a mix of Project Managers, Engineers, Drafters, Safety Professionals, Site Supervisors, Tradespeople and Project Support staff. The experience retained in our team ensures that our projects are delivered safely, on time and in accordance with appropriate technical standards.
Our key team members work in the roles they enjoy; they have authority, are involved in making decisions and help to determine strategies. We develop our staff from within, employing graduates and training them to become specialists in the water industry.
We have a professional yet social team culture that allows staff to work together and play together.
Guidera O’Connor has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), a strategic document that supports our business plan. It includes practical actions that drive GO's contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities in which we work. With RAP, we are engaging in respectful relationships and creating meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
When developing the RAP we undertook a survey of all of our staff to gauge existing awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to gain their input. This process has led to partnerships with various Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander companies, and more than 3% of GO’s employees now identify as aboriginal. You can view our RAP document here.
