Workplace Relations and Compliance Partner - SA - Thebarton

Established in 2001, Guidera O’Connor (GO)is a privately owned and respected design and construct contractor and have a successful track record delivering water and wastewater treatment projects to the Australian Water Industry. Our clients include SA Water, Water Corporation, Sydney Water and SEQ Water.

About the Role: 
The Workplace Relations and Compliance Partner is responsible for ensuring compliance with workplace legislation and policies, and supporting Project delivery by providing reviews of compliance with contracted obligations and targets including:

  • Workplace laws
  • Diversity & Inclusion  
  • Human rights legislation requirements
  • Compliance with company workplace policies
  • Compliance with Workplace Relations Management Plans

More specifically you will:

  • Work closely with the Pre-Contracts and Bid team, and the Commercial and Procurement team, and the Executive Manager People & Culture to develop Workplace Relations Management Plans (WRMP) that meet client and contract requirements and are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify compliance gaps in any contractual requirements and work with Commercial team and Executive Manager People & Culture to identify solutions that are commercially suitable.
  • Work with Pre-Contracts and Bid team, and the Commercial and Procurement team to ensure subcontractor management requirements are recorded and included in compliance audits.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with all employment, privacy and human rights laws and regulations.
  • Work with P&C team to develop, review, and update workplace policies and procedures to align with current legislation and best practices.
  • Work with the HSEQ and Project Managers to conduct compliance audits and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Work with Project Managers and project delivery teams to ensue project personnel understand and comply with WRMP’s and applicable contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Procurement leads to address compliance with project contracts relating to workplace relations management plans and subcontractor management.
  • Work with P&C team to develop and deliver training on workplace compliance topics, such as appropriate workplace behaviour, harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, ethical conduct and right of entry.
  • Work with P&C team to educate employees and managers on workplace policies and legislative changes.
  • Foster awareness of workplace rights and responsibilities to enhance organisational culture.
  • Work with P&C team to prepare reports on employee relations trends, compliance audits, and risk assessments for executive leadership.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in human resources, law, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in workplace relations, compliance, or a related role.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment, human rights and privacy legislations, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • An ability to understand client contracts and work with Executive Manager P&C to mitigate any risk to GO with respect to workplace relations management plans and subcontractor management.
  • Solid commercial/business acumen coupled with a working knowledge of risk management.
  • Experience delivering training programs or facilitating workshops.
  • A working knowledge of D&I principles and strategies.
  • An ability to think analytically and problem-solve effectively.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills.
