Estimating Engineer - WA - Bibra Lake

About the Role:

The Estimating Engineer is responsible for acting as a support resource to the Lead Estimator within a Core Bid Team. The Estimating Engineer will assist in the development of estimating project costs adhering to the estimating and bid development processes whilst managing competing priorities and meeting strict deadlines.  Where appropriate, from time to time the Estimating Engineer may also be tasked with other Core Bid Team roles of Lead Estimator and / or Bid Manager. This will be determined by the scale or tier of the bid.

This role will suit a highly motivated individual with a background in estimation, project management or engineering gained within the water and wastewater construction industry. Essential to your success in this role is adaptability and a solutions-focused approach to produce winning bids.

When tasked with the Lead Estimator function for a specific bid, they will: 

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Obtain market input during the estimate development process
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the development of accurate project schedules using supply chain information 
  • Coordinate bid designs for the design and construct tenders
  • Develop and maintain client relationships where required

When tasked with the Bid Manager function for a specific bid, they will: 

  • Develop an appropriate bid strategy for every bid to maximise our chances of success
  • Managing the whole of a bid
  • Develop delivery strategies for inclusion bids
  • Co-ordinate tender designs for design and construct tenders
  • Complete Inter reviews and presentations
  • Prepare thorough and professional tender submissions
  • Negotiate for successful award of tenders
  • Handover to project teams and learning from experience

You will bring:

  • Experience estimating within the construction industry preferably from water and wastewater industry
  • Formal engineering or construction qualifications in Mechanical or Chemical discipline
  • Experience using MS Office products especially Excel to an advanced level
  • Well-developed communication skills coupled with strong problem solving and influencing skills
  • Attention to detail and an ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Flexibility to learn new skills for professional growth in water and wastewater industry
